Hilda Joyce Dyer
H. Joyce Elton Dyer 1941 ~ 2009 Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, H. Joyce Elton Dyer, passed away Monday December 14, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 68, after enduring many years with Alzheimer's Disease. Born June 29,1941, in Los Angeles, California, daughter of Jack Harold Elton and Margaret Kathleen Newman. She spent her childhood, high school, and early married years in Southern California. They had seven children and raised their family in Bountiful, Utah. Joyce had a strong sense of family, which extended from her siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and beyond. She had a huge heart. She was a friend to the stranger and the down trodden. An active member of the LDS church she served in many callings including, Relief Society, Young Women's Leader, and Camp Director where she led hikes through the Wasatch Mountains. She loved doing genealogy and writing family histories. Joyce was extremely active. She enjoyed hiking mountain trails, playing racket ball, and ran a marathon at age 43. She spent hours reading novels, and had an intense love of good books. She will be truly missed, but all will remember the lessons she taught of compassion and unconditional love.
