Hilda Joyce Dyer
H. Joyce Elton Dyer 1941 ~ 2009 Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, H. Joyce Elton Dyer, passed away Monday December 14, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 68, after enduring many years with Alzheimer's Disease. Born June 29,1941, in Los Angeles, California, daughter of Jack Harold Elton and Margaret Kathleen Newman. She spent her childhood, high school, and early married years in Southern California. She loved the ocean. Joyce attended BYU where she met and married Grady Tom Dyer. They were sealed in the LDS Los Angeles temple on June 22, 1962. They had seven children and raised their family in Bountiful, Utah. Joyce had a strong sense of family, which extended from her siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and beyond. She had a huge heart. She was a friend to the stranger and the down trodden. An active member of the LDS church she served in many callings including, Relief Society, Young Women's Leader, and Camp Director where she led hikes through the Wasatch Mountains. She loved doing genealogy and writing family histories. Joyce was extremely active. She enjoyed hiking mountain trails, playing racket ball, and ran a marathon at age 43. She spent hours reading novels, and had an intense love of good books. She will be truly missed, but all will remember the lessons she taught of compassion and unconditional love. She is survived by husband, Grady; children, Christi Ford, Lisa Snow, Michael Dyer, Wendy Haslam, Steven Dyer, Jaime Dyer, and Jared Dyer, and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; siblings, Robert Elton, Larry Elton, Connie Erskine, and Dennis Elton; she is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held December 19, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Bountiful Mueller Park Stake Center, 1800 East Mueller Park Road (1800 S.) A viewing will be held Friday December 18, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
